About Each Jyotirlinga Temple

Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga (Near Pune)

Located in the Sahyadri ranges, Bhimashankar is surrounded by dense forest and natural beauty. It is believed that Lord Shiva appeared here to destroy the demon Tripurasura, hence the temple’s spiritual importance.

Architecture: Built in the Nagara style and later renovated by the Peshwas. The temple’s bell was donated by Chimaji Appa, brother of Peshwa Baji Rao I.

Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga (Nashik)

Situated at the source of the holy Godavari River, Trimbakeshwar is a unique Jyotirlinga representing the divine trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Rituals for ancestors (Pitru Dosh Nivaran) are performed here.

Architecture: Constructed in black stone Hemadpanthi style with three-faced lingam inside the sanctum.

Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga (Aurangabad)

Grishneshwar, meaning “Lord of Compassion,” is located in Verul village near Ellora Caves. Built by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar, it is the smallest Jyotirlinga temple in India yet among the most spiritually charged.

Architecture: Red basalt stone structure featuring intricate carvings of mythological scenes. The temple is known for its serene environment.
